That's not me. So don't ask. |
Yesterday was Children's Day celebration in my school. I got lots of gifts from the school and teachers yesterday. Here's what I got:
2 files, 2 pencil cases, 1 magic trick box, 1 Cadbury chocolate bar, 3 pens, 1 eraser, Mamee noodle snack, 2 pencils and one small Cadbury Crunch bar.
Also, there was a Children's Day concert. It started off really....lame and then it was still...pretty lame.
Started with a Children's Day speech which was actually mostly about the recent YOG. Then had to sing "Semoga Bahagia". Technically, I didn't even sing a single word. Barely anyone in my class sang. Period. Then had a magic "show" by one of the teachers. I barely understood it and I feel it lasted too long. Probs about 20 min or 15 min. Then "The Noose" spoof. It was not too bad. Finally, the P5 and P6 teachers "dancing" to Bad Romance. That was quite good. Mr Teo seemed to enjoy it. He was headbanging and clapping all the way through. (P.S. He's a Lady Gaga fan haha.)
Then it was like, over at 12PM. Could finally have Mother Tongue. Most of the Chinese in my school hate MT but I like it because all we do is talk, laugh and that's all. Occasionally, we get some work to do but meh. It's all done in class. But then we have to do a compo. By Monday, I think.
That was not all. After school had supplementary class from 1330 - 1600 but went out of school at 1630 because we wanted to wait for my friend. During sup class, 2 announcements.
"Sorry to interrupt. 1st recess will be extended to 4pm(instead of the usual 3.30pm)". Everybody was like, "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU- THIS SUCKS MAN! THEY GET 1 HOUR RECESS BUT WE NEVER GET! AIYOH!" Something like this:
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- |
^^^^^^ Yeah, like that.
Then came the 2nd announcement. "Sorry for the interruption, 2nd recess will be extended until 4.30pm(instead of the usual 4pm).". And everybody was like "Baby, baby ba-" no. Down there.
Again. |
Yeah, I feel that it's unfair. The PM session get 1h recess but the AM session doesn't. And it's the last time for the P6s. Unless you're staying back, that is. To me, the best part was the gifts. I got some pretty useful stuff. And by useful stuff, I mean a file and an eraser. I needed a new file and I don't bother to buy an eraser. Simple as that.

Composition: 28/40 marks.
It was such a terrifying experience. The memory would forever be embedded in my memory.
It was my first time going on a business trip. My job as a trade officer was very important. That morning, I bid farewell to my family as I would not be seeing them for a few weeks.
I hailed a taxi and told the driver to drive my to Heathrow ^International^ Airport. When I arrived there, I calmly went through the gate to board my airplane.
Once I boarded the airplane, I sat down at my seat numbered "DK-2528". Relaxing comfortably, I saw a man with short hair running down the aisle towards the pilot's cockpit.
"Must be a flight director," I thought as the man rushed.
Suddenly, I heard a few shouts coming from the cockpit. At that moment, I felt that something was not right. All of a sudden, two uniformed pilots and the man came out. There was a pistol held up to each pilot's head.
I tried to brush of the nervousness while beads of perspiration clung onto my back. Nothing could prepare me for this. Fear knotted my stomach, turning a tough man like me into a powerless civilian.
Suddenly, a few security personnel came in peacefully. I felt that the fear was slightly gone. Suddenly, all hell broke loose. The guns were no longer at the pilots' heads but were now firing at the security personnel.
All the passengers, including me, ducked down for our own personal safety. Fortunately, none of the personnel were wounded. The added element of guns made me feel less hopeful about surviving. The terrorist man definitely had no mercy. One misstep and all our lives could be lost.
Nobody was in a position to do anything. All we could do was to stand there dumbfounded and listen to the man.
"Listen to me, everybody. I am terrorist. Fear not, none of you will be hurt if you listen to me. The first thing I want you to do is get in single-file and walk out of the aeroplane very calmly. Understand?" said exclaimed the man. Everybody nodded their heads in agreement for the fear of the bad things that could happen.
We were outside on the tarmac waiting for the next thing to happen. Suddenly, we all heard a gunshot.
The few security personnel had then told us that a few snipers had taken a shot at the man. The relief that everything had gone well overwhelmed any of my feelings beforehand. There lay the terrorist, unconscious and bleeding on the tarmac.
Recovering from my initial shock, I fished out my mobile phone and punched in two numbers I knew by heart. My boss and my wife's number. I explained to them the severity of the situation.
My boss then told me that he would cancel the business trip. An ambulance came in to attend to the wounded man.
Personally, I felt that the man was very wrong to embed fear into the ears of so many people. The terrifying memory will forever be embedded in me and the other people who were present there.
