BIG MOMMAS. (Movie Review)

BIG MOMMAS: LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

So yesterday, I went Cathay Cinexplex at Causeway Point to watch Big Mommas. Well, the plan was to watch Diary Of A Wimpy Kid at 1.10pm, but we were kinda... late. So after some discussion, we decided to watch Big Mommas at 4.40pm rather than World Invasion at 4.20pm. Yup, these small things would have changed this blog post entirely. Alright, let's get to the review...

---
Movie: Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son
Review by: Syazwan Jainal (a.k.a. Syazwan FellDown)

The movie starts off with Malcolm Turner (played by Martin Lawrence) chasing his mailman for his mail. He sees that he gets a letter that his son Trent Turner (played by Brandon T. Jackson) is accepted into Duke University. Malcolm tracks down Trent to find that he is outside his high school, which he has graduated from. He is performing his song "Lyrical Miracle" which I can't seem to get out of my head. Malcolm stops Trent and brings him home. All the way home, Trent tries to get Malcolm to sign a recording contract for the Prodi-G(Trent). Malcolm does not want to sign it as he does not want Trent to give up his college education at Duke. Malcolm then goes to work where he has to face some bad guys.

Heeding advice from his friend, Trent follows Malcolm in hopes of getting his contract signed. Trent witnesses the snitch that Malcolm had sent die and hides. His phone suddenly starts ringing with 'Lyrical Miracle' as his ringtone. Dumbass, set it to silent. Malcolm saves Trent in the nick of time and they escape. Chirkov tells his men to hunt down Trent and kill him as he was a witness. Malcolm then tells the both of them to go undercover and stay away from home. And thus, BIG MOMMAS.

Malcolm find out that the flash drive he is looking for is at Georgia Girls' School. They go to the Georgia Girls' School For The Arts and Trent enrols. Numerous events occur and Malcolm deduces that the flash drive was in a music box that was stolen. Eventually, Trent blows his cover when his friends spot him on a date with Hayley (as himself). His friends then call Chirkov, who had presented himself as a record producer. When Trent changes back to the fatass girl, Chirkov's men could no longer recognise Trent and thought that he had disappeared. Malcolm finds out that it was actually Hayley that stole the music box.

Hayley, hoping that Trent would be there to duet with him but Trent could not as he needed to keep his cover. Hayley is unable to perform but undercover Trent does the duet together with him. Hayley then finds out that it was actually Trent all along and is enraged.

They then go to the library where Hayley places back the music box. There, Malcolm, Trent and Hayley almost die as they were cornered by Chirkov. Luckily for them, the school's janitor, Kurtis Kool, saves them by stun gunning Chirkov.

The movie then ends with "Lyrical Miracle" music video featuring Malcolm as Big Momma and Kurtis Kool.

I'm new to the series, and I'd say that it wasn't too bad. However, I feel that for a comedy film, there just wasn't enough... comedy. But, that's just my opinion. Comedy rating... 7/10. Would I watch it again? Yes. Watch it for a 3rd time? Maybe. 7/10 for re-watchability. I don't think the content was enough. I just felt that there wasn't enough in the movie. It felt like it was lacking something. 6/10 for content. That would make the score... 6.6/10. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad. It was alright.

I can't get that song "Lyrical Miracle" out of my head. Hahahaha.

The Green Hornet (2/2): The Review

THE GREEN HORNET: REVIEW

Finally, the review is here. Sorry for taking so long, I had some... projects to do. Sorry if it's boring, uninteresting or hard to follow. I'm not a good reviewer that takes every step to make it look good and sound interesting. I just do it off the top of my head.

---

I just realised the poster says "June 25, 2010". Wtf.

The Green Hornet - The Movie; is based off a character of the same name which has appeared in Comic books and other media.

The story starts out slightly confusing, with not much relating to "The Green Hornet". In my opinion, "The Green Hornet" kinda sounds like a car. Not much relating to the story.

The main character, played by Seth Rogen, is the lazy-ass son of a millionaire who owns a newspaper called "The Daily Sentinel". One day, his father dies to an allergic reaction to a bee sting. The main character finds out about the news while coming home in a limo. Main Character is devestated by the news.

As the son of the millionaire, he is handed over the newspaper and now owns it. Then, he fires some of his staff. He then goes home to sleep. The next day, he wakes up tasting horrible coffee. Enraged, he goes to find out who made his coffee. He asks the person why it tastes so bad, she replies that she is not the usual coffee maker. She tells him that he fired his coffee maker.

He re-hires the guy, named Kato, played by Jay Chou (ahhh!). He shows Seth how to make the coffee, then they go to the garage. Seth finds out about how awesome the cars there are, and then plots to pull a prank by cutting off the head of his father's statue. They fight off some bad guys after that, then the public think that they are the villains.

Now, I won't bother giving the plot to the rest of the movie, because that would spoil the surprise and also be quite boring for me as I would remember it off the top of my head.

Jay Chou's English is kinda weird, considering he can barely speak English in real life. But, the way he does so is kinda cool, with the Chinese accent there. His acting is also not bad. Though I have to say, this movie employs the stereotype that all Asians know Kung-fu.

Seth Rogen's jokes are quite hilarious. This movie has quite alot of good jokes. For comedic factor, I'd give it a 9/10.

Somehow, I feel that it lacks abit on action. It gets confusing sometimes, and lacks something. For action factor, I'd rate it 7/10

Would I see it again? Yes, I would. I'd see it for maybe another 2 times, before deciding about seeing it again. It is definitely one of those movies which are worth forking out money to see again. Re-watch-ability rating: 8.5/10.

Comedic factor: 9/10
Action factor: 7/10
Re-watch-ability: 8.5/10
Overall: 24.5/30 = 8.16.../10 =(about) 8.2/10

So there you have it. I rate it 8.2/10. And I will be using this system to rate movies from now on, with tweaks depending on the type of movie. In this case, it was an action comedy. Goodbye.

The Green Hornet (1/2)

Yo! So if you see carefully, you will notice that I have changed my blog design. Personally, I actually like this better. In the rubbish you go, btemplates.com. :D

I have changed quite some things. The biggest difference so far is that I removed the music. So you won't get that "I got a fetish for these kicks(kicks), a fetish for these jeans, jeans...". Yep. But I'll put it back in after some time. I need to decide on the tracks, number of tracks, whether the song is still nice anot. OR I just put ONE song on my blog. And I won't on the volume so high like last time. Okay, moving on.

Today was a good-bad day for me. Bad is I spilled my drink at LJS and it was wasted, good because I got a free meal! Woohoo! Spill the drink, get a free meal. Thank you so very much, LJS. Eh, cashier support Kranji ah! Woohoo!

Immediately after school, I went back to Unity. By the time I reached there, (or most ppl reached there), the teachers chao already. So sad. At least catch the teachers through the door if cannot go in uh. Mrs Koh oso dun wanna wait sia.

Sorry the pic liddat. Lazy to flip. U can see Fud, Haffiyan pendek, Natalie, Amanda Wong and 2 budak sesat mane entah. Even though cannot go in, at least got UPS gathering. Get to meet all my old friends there. Very nice. Straight after that, went to LJS, you know what happened.

---

Okay, I plan to make it like this. 1st post is the experience. 2nd post is the movie review. Okay? Ouhkaii.

So after watching The Green Hornet, me, Fud, Ghaz, Aidil, and... ermm... Rahmotek the Evil Sorcerer went to Jurong Park. I tell you, Jurong Park somewhat interesting. There's alot of people flying kite there. And that reminds me of that cheer during S1 orientation camp. So at Jurong Park, we took this pic. Rahmotek the E.S. told us to hor, dun blame me. And he might kill me for putting that stupid pic as my blog background.

And here's GAY FACE.:

Which one is nicer? Leave a comment.

2nd Day. :) or :( ?

2ND DAY. KRANJI SECONDARY SCHOOL. Yay.

So it was my 2nd day today. I'll have to tell you... it was damn fun. So here's how it went.

---

Day started off quite boring. From morning assembly all the way to recess time, it was just sharing on some stuffs about Kranji. Like how the name Kranji is derived from the tree species "Keranji". I just thought that KSS was named after the place. So sharing on E&E, Life Coach, Aesthetics and Thinking Routines. Life Coach is what KSS calls a "counseller". And KSS calls "Form Teachers" "Class Mentors". Yeah, whatever. So after the talks, recess.

Recess I dunno what to buy, I go buy Milo Packet. Sometimes it kinda sucks to be in KSS because I barely have any Malay friends to hang out with. And 1) The Malays at KSS are so freaking different than at Unity. I miss UPS. But Amali is OK. 2) There's too many Malay girls. :/

So after recess, there was Inter-Class games. I was like, "YES! SPORTS!". We were given a choice between Dodgeball, Handball, Volleyball and Captain's Ball. Dodgeball. So then dodgeball first match was (IIRC) 1B v. 1D. I think 1D ah, I dun remember. 1B win. Then 1B v. 1F. 1B win. Then 1B v. 1H. 1B lose. -_-. Then sudden death round. 1B and 1F was tied for points. If one person in the team out, the whole team out. 1B win in a random stroke of luck. Wah, damn lucky. So we topped Group B. Then finals 1B v. 1A. So 6 out of 7 of us was out (I kena out), but then ah, Grace solo 1v4 last damn long sia. She keep dodging, even though her throws didn't hit. But 1B still lose. -_-. But still, we runner-up. But nobody get prize for inter-class games. Wtf. We play for pride ah? Ya.

After that, lunch. Eat lunch finish, go hall. Hall do mass dance. The 5678 one. I suck at it. I can't be bothered to explain the rest of the day because it's really boring to do so. So dismissal was at 4.20pm. Tomorrow got campfire and dismissal at 8.30pm. Yay? But then I think that means cannot lepak. Nvm lah. If I not wrong, I got from 12pm to 2pm to lepak. Only. :/. Damn.

Today's rating: 8/10. Up 5 points. :D

Oh the memories...

1st Day of School. :) or :( ?

Kay, so today was the first day of school. And I'm just gonna say it, it was quite boring. And I know alot of your first day of school was quite fun. So here's the things I miss so far. I can actually make a list out of them. Here we go.

1. My Best Friends

It's really damn awkward going to school without my best friends there. Rahmotek the Evil Sorcerer (i.e. Voldemort((Haha u got no nose)), Aidil, Ghaz, Fud, Aniq, CJ, Dom, who else ah? Tian Wen, Hobson, Rishab, and many others. I miss them all. I miss talking to them, all the company given by them. I bored, talk to them lah. But now, solo. Well, got Yu Fei and Sean in my class. But still, so damn awkward.

2. Unity Primary

I miss **MOST** of Unity Pri. I miss some **SOME** of the P5s which are now P6s. Yeah, study hard for your PSLE. This fact actually clashes with the 1st one up there. Yeah. I miss the close distance and the uniform. That's right, the uniform. Unity Pri dun need to tuck in, Kranji need to tuck in. Haiyo...

3. Lepak-ing

I just can't miss this out. I miss lepaking. Where everyday (if possible) me & my friends just find somewhere comfortable, we sit down and we talk. If possible, I wanna spend most of my Saturday and Sunday lepaking. Keep in touch, tho. Sat & Sun lepak with your good friends... :)

---

So today we just did some cheers, get to know the school better, blah blah blah. Not that much. I say something first. I feel that... most of the chinese in my class are damn nerdy. Exceptions are Marcus, Sean, Yu Fei and one other guy I forgot his name. Oh yeah, and I think a few chinese girls. But DAMN NERDY SIA. To me the boys in my class are equivalent to: (there's 10 nerdy guys out of the 16. I'm in the 6.)

3 Ace (Because a few of their lips like got lipstick)
4 Qi Xiang (This one hard to explain.)
2 Jose (Short people. No lahh, so bad call u Jose. U just short. That's it.)
1 IDK wat.

It sucks THAT bad. If I happen to actually have any of the other guys in my class reading this right now (which I probably don't, except for Sean and Yu Fei. That's it.), Hi. Yep, it's good because most of you haven't found my Facebook yet due to lack of mutual friends. HAHA. EPIC PWNAGE. By the way, my Facebook is Syazwan FellDown.

I don't have any Malay friends yet, except for Amali and Izzat. And Syazwana. And Danial. Fine, I have 1 so far. THANK GOD I MET AMALI AND IZZAT DURING THE HOLLYS. So here's my rating so far: 3.5/10. In fun. Oh, the memories...

2010

2010

This is gonna be my last post of 2010. It's more of topical than about my life. So here it goes.

0000000000

So 2010 is definitely an awesome year. I have so many good friends who were there. 2010 has created so many memories for me. I'm gonna miss it when the clock strikes 12 tonight. I've met lots of new people, so many memories, fun times. All the times lepaking, ignoring the teacher in class, all that.

2010 was also the last year of my Primary School life. Goodbye Unity. I'll miss you. Well, MOST of you. So here's some of my thanks. It's gonna sound really cheesy.

Taken on Annual Awards Day.
So thanks for being friends with me, Amanda Wong. We should have been friends much earlier. Thanks for getting me to get my blog active again. Yeah, it was inspired by you. So zank you, zank you very much.

Aniq, Fud, Rahmotek the Evil Sorcerer, Ghaz, Aidil - So yeah, good memories. We're always the ones who lepak together. Whether it's playing Halo, beating Ghaz on Halo, beating Ghaz by just abit on Halo or Ghaz beating me by 3 kills on Halo, it's all good memories. Early in the year when we cycle together, fun. Aidil, even though you anger me alot (AND I MEAN ALOT.), it's all memories. AIR? (Am I Right?)

2010 has had a huge impact on me. It's gonna be sad letting go of 2010. It passed by so damn fast. But I hope that 2011 would be another awesome year. Or maybe better. Peace out, 2010.

INCEPTION

So yesterday (27 Nov 2010), I watched Inception with Fud. And I'm telling you, it's pretty good. Here's the review:

---
---
INCEPTION
REVIEW BY SYAZWAN (FELLDOWN)

So the movie starts out with a somewhat boring yet confusing scene. There was alot of dialogue at the beginning. It wants to make you go "Durrrrrrr...". Yeah, it was kinda boring. But eventually, you find out that it's actually a dream. Yep, it's confusing. Inception is about dreaming. That might sound lame, but it's actually quite exciting.

So it's kinda confusing. Dominick Cobb (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), is a dream stealing expert. That's right, he's an expert at stealing information from dreams. The movie is kinda hard to explain here. In the Live scene, Cobb is given a "kick". A kick is something that will wake the person up from the dream. So then blah blah blah. Everyone that was there gets on a train. There-- wait, no.

Kay, forget what I said 3 lines earlier. You are going to count 3 lines. I'm damn right. So first one I described was actually them dreaming in a dream. Awesome, right? Then Cobb was given a kick in the 1st layer dream. Woke up there. THEN at the Live scene, everyone that was there was given a kick. You see? Inception is quite confusing. You need to be fully attentive to the movie. You can't miss too much.

So the Live scene is in a train. They then go to the airport to get on a plane from Sydney to London. I skipped about 30 mins of the movie in my review here. I don't wanna spoil it too bad. Then when they get on the plane, they dream again.

--1ST LAYER--

1st layer shows them in a van. They get chased around by some bad guys. Apparently, I think they're trying to kill the guys. Every one in that van is then put asleep into a dream. Except Yusuf because he's driving

--2ND LAYER--

Everybody is at a hotel. Then Cobb meets one of the guys he's supposed to meet, blah blah blah. Then they yet again sleep into a dream.

--3RD LAYER--

So now, they're somewhere up in the mountains with alot of snow. The guy that Cobb meets in supposed to go into a vault which is protected by some people. Enemies, I guess. In the vault is his father and he wants to get the Will next to his father there. That guy almost dies, everyone else dream.

--4TH LAYER--

City. Cobb tells Ariadne about stuff around the city, the city is actually quite run down and abandoned. It's like when you watch Life After People. At about 50 years after people or something. You get the idea. I don't really remember what really happens next. But it's REALLY DAMN COOL AND CONFUSING. A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM. FOUR LAYERS!! It's really exciting

--SCORE--

I'd give Inception a.... 10/10!! It was completely exciting, the only times I didn't have my eyes glued to the TV at Fud's house was when I was distracted by the computer. If I could, I'd watch it 2 more times. I praise Christopher Nolan for writing SUCH A GOOD movie. There's enough action. Though there's very little comedy, the great scenes make up for the little comedy. I recommend you to watch it if you haven't or watch it 2 more times if you have. Great movie. INCEPTION.

Tron: Legacy (**SPOILER ALERT!**)

Tron: Legacy

So today, I watched... wait for it... TRON LEGACY! HAHA! So this movie just came out last Thursday. I shouldn't say JUST came out. Because during holidays, you don't count "last Thursday" as just came out. Because it's been one week. It's quite long. Meh, I've had longer. There's movies that I wanted to watch, but haven't and couldn't. Here's some of them:

  1. Avatar
  2. The Last Airbender (But I heard it's crap.)
  3. Salt
  4. KARATE KID.
  5. Pokemon the movie? Heh heh. No.
  6. Saw I, II, IV, V, VI and VII. (That means I've watched III.)

Yeah, I said SOME of them. Not all because I just can't remember all of them. I STM, that's why.

So at first, it was me, Fud, Mat, and Khairul (w.k.a.* Moleh(or Moleh Moleh)). Went to our usual crib. Chey, kene crib. The usual mosque. Alkhair mosque. The one rrrriiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhttttt beside CCK Sec. So for the people going CCK Sec next year, you'll have to pass by Alkhair Mosque. HAHA! So pray, we all go home. Mat at first wanna come along, but he never follow. Hais.. I'm like, "YOU LAZY ASS!". Meh.

So aft that... instead it's me & Fud go watch Tron at Lot One. If got Mat ah, confirm we go Golden Village @Jurong Point. And can use my free ticket haha. xD. Me & Fud at the arcade, then we look at the time, WE SEE IT'S 4.35PM ALREADY! Movie about to start! Yeah, and we already bought the tickets. Bought popcorn. Heh heh.

And so here's the review (**SPOILER ALERT**)...

*w.k.a. means "widely known as"
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

I SUGGEST THAT IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE MOVIE TO BE SPOILED FOR YOU, READ AS LITTLE OF THIS SECTION AS POSSIBLE. (I.E. 210%)

TRON: LEGACY
Review by: Syazwan, writer and owner of "JustBloggering". Heh heh.
Date: 24th December 2010
Rating: Read the review...

Before I say anything else, I just want you to know that Tron: Legacy is actually a sequel to the not-so-successful original Tron back in 1989 or something.

So the movie kinda starts to play without you still knowing. It's like, it still feels like the pre-movie commercials. It's a great title card, in the end saying "TRON".

So there's Kevin Flynn telling his son, Sam Flynn, bedtime stories about The Grid. Tron is actually a character of The Grid. So then the father says he's going to work, and then the next day, the father is reported missing. Then Sam runs away with the father's Ducati. Wait, no. Sam runs away. About 20 years later, a scene shows Sam with his father's Ducati. Then they suddenly break out in dance. No lah, jk.

Then Sam screws with ENCOM, blah blah blah. Sam gets the keys to his father's arcade, he checks out the Tron arcade machine. He discovers a secret room behind it. He then types in some codes into a computer, then gets sucked into The Grid. He is immediately arrested, and then given a suit. He was arrested because he was not.. identifiable. Heh heh. After he gets the suit, he plays the Games.

Somehow, he wins all of them. Sam tries to escape, then one of the orange guys cuts Sam, and he bleeds abit. Then it is found out that Sam is a User, not a Program. Then Clu meets Sam. Clu is a so-called "clone" of Kevin. TEAMJUMBA! I LIKE IT. But Clu never ages. Clu had taken over The Grid. He's evil. Sam at first thinks that Clu is his father due to them having the same face. Then blah blah blah. Freaking hax0r. DAMMIT JEFF BRIDGES! So Sam almost dies before he's rescued by Quorra. Bitch. Just let him die, who cares? Sam is taken Off-Grid to where his dad is.

Then some action ensues, blah blah blah too lazy to describe. After the action, comes the epic ending scene. In the end, Clu is "Integrated" back into Sam's dad. Because in the movie someone said that "He'll never survive the Integration", I'm assuming that Kevin Flynn died. Heh heh. Then Sam and Quorra kinda get onto the Ducati, and then they explore the city. Quorra sees the city for the first time. And then Credits. Hrrmmph. And here's some deleted scenes:

Here's my review. I'd say that Tron's effects are quite good and it's exciting. It's an action movie, so there isn't much comendy in it. It's not meant to have it. But the funny bits are quite good funny bits. Very creative. I like this movie very much. But I feel that there needs to be more action. It can get a tiny bit boring halfway through. You need to keep your audience paying attention to the movie. But yeah, the movie is really good. I give it... 8.5 out of 10.

The A-Team

So I met up with Fud, then he went to the CineNow @ Yew Tee to return a DVD. Then, he rented "The A-Team". And so the story begins...

Before anything else... there was a stripper in the movie. I'm just sayin'.

Then go buy Dbl Chb, went to Fud's house. Fud bought 2 dbl chb. And here's why:

Yep, that's why. He wanted to make a quadruple cheeseburger. Yep, nth for him to do. Then he gimme the top bun of the 2nd cheesburger. Then what else? I eat lah! Kay, now the movie...

---

When the story starts out, it's kinda confusing. In fact, I started writing this review about 45 mins into the movie! Haha! Yeah, so it starts out quite confusing, but some time into the movie, you'll understand it. The main protagonists get into a bulletproof helicopter. That's right, BITCHES. Bulletproof! Then an epic dogfight ensues, blah blah blah.

There's quite alot of comedy in this movie. I really enjoyed it. The movie has great mix of action and comedy. It's like The Deathly Hallows. But HP contained quite a lot of camping, I don't think there was enough action and maybe even dialogue. But The A-Team, it contains a good amount of dialogue, not too much. And great humor. Not just humor in speech form, but action form. One of the most funny lines:

Oh, so a stripper is included too, heh heh.
When I heard that line, I laughed and I laughed hard. There's also the question raiser of one of the inmates of a maximum security having many previleges sneaked in such as a television and a steam thingy. Funny, eh? Yeah, I don't know how to explain it.

Okay, so here's my review. There's great humor in it, great action. It cracks me up alot. One of the most funny parts is when the scene was at a psychiatric hospital... blah blah blah. It's funneh. I'd give it... 9.5/10. -0.5 because it's confusing at the start, otherwise, it's a great movie.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage of The Dawn Treader (2/4)

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage of The Dawn Treader

So yesterday after taking the PSLE cert, me, Aniq, Fudhail, Rahmat and Aidil went to watch The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. Something I would abbreviate as TCON: TVOTDT. Or I could just call it Narnia.

So met up, went to Causeway Point. We thought that we could catch the 2.30pm movie, but we were kinda.... late. So we caught the 4.25pm movie instead. Before anything else, I'm gonna tell you that it was AN AWESOME MOVIE. Let's go to my classic movie review style.

---

The movie was said to start at 4.25pm but because of the ads, it probably started at around 4.35pm or 4.40pm. Nevertheless, I don't care.

So the movie starts with Edmund trying to join the army (of England). Then Lucy called out to him and then Edmund got embarassed and couldn't join the army. Yeah. So then they went home, Eustace (I thought it was spelled "Eustus" then I wiki-ed the movie.)went up to L & E's room. Then Their painting of The Dawn Treader suddenly comes to life. Then they all get sucked into Narnia. There, they meet Prince Caspian (again) who tells them that they need to find 7 swords. They then set out on an adventure with the crew of The Dawn Treader. Along the way, Eustace gets transformed into the dragon and disgraces my nipples. :/.

I'm not really a big fan of the Narnia series. I'm not very familliar with it. I'm more familliar with the Harry Potter series. Throughout the movie, I was comparing the characters with Harry Potter characters. Lol. That one guy who looked like Dumbledore.. etc. So yeah, it's a great movie. You should totally catch it even if you haven't watched the first 2 movies. I barely watched the 1st, but I catched most of the 2nd. It's very entertaining for someone that's not a fan of the series. There's quite some action, less humour than I expected. Nevermind lah, you don't need much humour in action movies.

My rating: 8.9999999- Infinity/10. It's a great movie. Should totally catch it.

OH KEVIN! I GOT A NEW IPHONE APP!!!
